Charles Dickens found inspiration in Kent’s countryside.

Summers and stays at places like Gad’s Hill Place saw him walking lanes, visiting coastal towns, and observing village life with the same compassion as his fiction.

Kent’s marshes, coaching inns, and rivers appear in The Pickwick Papers, David Copperfield, and Great Expectations.

A small tribute to the county that shaped his work.
