Museum of London Docklands

In the summer of 2021 I was contacted by the Museum of London Docklands as they were in the process of putting together their latest exhibition ‘London: Port City’ and were looking for an exclusive design to sell on products.

The exhibition is highlighting the work of the Port of London Authority, on its history and current day work.

My Grandad (Roy Johnson) used to work for the Port of London Authority back in 1958 for 27 years as a public relations officer, so the brief had a very personal connection to me.

The design focuses on the wide variety of goods handled in the port including animals, spices and wine.

To commemorate my Grandad’s time at the Port of London Authority, I have woven his initials in the design. (on the red bus it has R.D.J)

The new product range is available in their gift shop and online.

The exhibition runs until May 2022.

It is fantastic to have Esther designing the merchandise for this exhibition, which evokes so many memories for the many people like me, who have worked in the port over the years
